We are seeking an experienced and strategic Workday Technical Lead People Solutions to serve as the technical owner, architect, and subject matter expert for the Workday platform and broader People Technology ecosystem.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of enterprise technology experience, including 7+ years of hands-on Workday technical experience, with deep expertise in Workday Security, Integrations, Architecture, Data, Governance, and Platform Optimization. This role will partner closely with HR, Payroll, Talent, Finance, Information Security, Enterprise Architecture, and external service providers to ensure a scalable, secure, compliant, and reliable People Technology landscape.

Key Responsibilities

Workday Platform Ownership & Operations

  • Own the overall technical health, stability, performance, scalability, and reliability of the Workday platform.
  • Serve as the primary technical authority for Workday Security, Integrations, Data Architecture, and Platform Optimization.
  • Establish and maintain operational support processes, SLAs, monitoring standards, and incident management procedures.
  • Lead root cause analysis and remediation of critical production issues, integration failures, and platform incidents.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on platform reliability, automation, performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Identify and manage technical debt and platform optimization opportunities.
  • Provide technical oversight and governance for AMS teams, including developers, integration resources, and support personnel.
  • Establish reusable integration frameworks, development standards, and technical best practices.

Workday Security & Compliance

  • Define and govern the Workday security architecture and security model.
  • Conduct periodic security reviews, audits, risk assessments, and access reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX, GDPR, data privacy, internal audit, and enterprise security standards.
  • Partner with Information Security and compliance teams to address security risks and remediation activities.
  • Establish governance standards for Workday access, integrations, data, and technical controls.

Enterprise People Technology Architecture

  • Define and maintain the People Technology architecture roadmap aligned with business objectives and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Evaluate business and technical requirements and recommend scalable, secure, and sustainable solutions.
  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture teams to align People Technology with enterprise technology standards.
  • Lead architecture reviews, technical design sessions, solution governance, and technology assessments.
  • Assess technical dependencies, impacts, risks, and opportunities across the People Technology ecosystem.
  • Maintain architecture diagrams, integration inventories, technical standards, data flows, and solution documentation.

Workday Integrations & Data

  • Architect, design, and govern complex Workday integrations using:
    • Workday Studio
    • EIB
    • Workday Connectors
    • PECI
    • PICOF
    • Workday APIs
  • Define integration architecture and standards for internal and third-party systems.
  • Oversee integrations between Workday and payroll, benefits, finance, identity management, analytics, and other enterprise platforms.
  • Ensure data architecture and data flows support scalability, security, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Troubleshoot complex integration issues and provide technical direction to development teams.

Stakeholder & Technical Leadership

  • Act as the primary Workday technical SME and provide strategic technical guidance to business and technology stakeholders.
  • Partner with HR, Payroll, Talent, Finance, Information Security, Enterprise Architecture, and external vendors.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable and sustainable technical solutions.
  • Lead technical discussions, design reviews, architecture decisions, and vendor engagements.
  • Mentor Workday technical teams and establish engineering best practices.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of enterprise technology experience.
  • 7+ years of hands-on Workday technical experience.
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Workday Security
    • Workday Integrations
    • Workday Studio
    • EIB
    • Workday Connectors
    • PECI / PICOF
    • Workday APIs
    • Workday Architecture
    • Workday Data Architecture
  • Strong understanding of Workday business processes and enterprise HR technology.
  • Experience supporting large-scale People Technology ecosystems and third-party vendor integrations.
  • Strong knowledge of security governance, audit controls, compliance, and data privacy.
  • Experience leading technical architecture and governance activities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
