Position Information

As Student Accessibility Services (SAS) embarks on a very exciting academic year, we are seeking Office Assistants to help us transition to and build culture in our new space at Rondileau Student Union (RSU).

In this role, student employees will have the opportunity to:

  • Actively advance a culture of accessibility, inclusivity, disability rights & advocacy throughout the Bridgewater State University community.
  • Staff front desk and answer general inquiries about SAS services and support.
  • Welcome people to the SAS offices and lounge area, promoting a safe, comfortable, and clean environment.
  • Assist students to schedule appointments, generate letters of accommodation, initiate requests for support, etc.,
  • Contribute to the development of visual campaigns for print and social media.
  • Deliver items around campus.
  • Other administrative duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Energy, enthusiasm, self-direction, patience, and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse student/faculty/staff/community population.
  • Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information. Confidentiality is essential in this position, as students may not choose to disclose details of their involvement with our office to others.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with and an ongoing commitment to working effectively with and across diverse communities, including specific experience with one or more of the following identities/communities: People with both visible and invisible disabilities, people of color, minoritized groups and immigrant populations, people of various gender and sexual identities and expressions, first-generation students, people from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of campus resources and how to access them.
  • Proficient computer skills, ideally including Microsoft Teams, Bookings, Office, and the SAS Portal.
