    Welding Engineer – Pipeline Integrity About the Opportunity
    A leading energy infrastructure company is seeking a Welding Engineer to provide technical leadership in support of pipeline integrity, welding engineering, non-destructive examination (NDE), and regulatory compliance.

    This role partners with Engineering, Operations, Integrity Management, and Project teams to support pipeline construction, maintenance, inspection, and repair activities. The successful candidate will ensure welding programs meet industry standards while supporting safe, reliable, and compliant operation of pipeline and facility assets.
    Key Responsibilities Welding Engineering & Technical Support
    • Provide technical expertise for welding, fabrication, inspection, and non-destructive examination (NDE) activities supporting pipeline construction, maintenance, operations, and repair.
    • Develop, review, and approve:
      • Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
      • Procedure Qualification Records (PQR)
      • Welder qualification records
    • Develop and maintain welding, fabrication, and NDE standards, specifications, procedures, and technical manuals.
    • Review fabrication drawings, welding documentation, inspection records, and technical packages to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
    Pipeline Integrity & Compliance
    • Support pipeline integrity programs through engineering evaluations, anomaly assessments, and repair recommendations.
    • Assist in evaluating pipeline defects and determining appropriate repair methods.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, industry codes, and company engineering standards.
    • Monitor industry developments and recommend implementation of new technologies, best practices, and regulatory updates.
    Quality Assurance & Vendor Oversight
    • Conduct welding and NDE audits of contractors, fabricators, suppliers, and construction activities.
    • Evaluate contractor welding programs and inspection practices for compliance with established quality requirements.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to welding quality, inspection, and pipeline integrity.
    Qualifications Required
    • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology, Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related engineering discipline.
    • Working knowledge of welding processes, including:
      • Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
      • Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)
      • Submerged Arc Welding (SAW)
      • Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW)
      • Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW)
    • Knowledge of non-destructive examination (NDE) methods, including:
      • Radiographic Testing (RT)
      • Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
      • Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
      • Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
    • Familiarity with API 1104, ASME Section IX, and related welding and inspection standards.
    • Strong analytical, technical writing, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    • Willingness to travel up to 20% to field locations, fabrication facilities, and contractor sites.
    Preferred
    • Two or more years of experience supporting pipeline construction, integrity management, inspection, fabrication, or midstream operations.
    • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent industry certification.
    • Working knowledge of:
      • CFR Parts 192 and 195
      • ASME B31.4
      • ASME B31.8
      • Related pipeline regulations and industry standards
    • Experience performing pipeline anomaly assessments using methodologies such as ASME B31G and RSTRENG.
    • Experience evaluating pipeline repair methods and integrity management strategies.
    • Master's degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline.
