Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and organized part-time Hospice Volunteer Coordinator to lead and manage our volunteer program. This role is essential in recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers who provide companionship, emotional support, and practical assistance to hospice patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and oversee the delivery of all volunteer services.
  • Recruit, interview, and select volunteers based on program needs and individual strengths.
  • Design and conduct orientation and training programs for new volunteers.
  • Assign volunteers to appropriate roles and monitor performance and engagement.
  • Maintain accurate records of volunteer activities, hours, and service delivery.
  • Ensure volunteer compliance with hospice policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate regular volunteer support meetings and continuing education.
  • Prepare reports for leadership on volunteer program performance and impact.
  • Promote community awareness and engagement with the hospice volunteer program.
  • Serve as a liaison between volunteers and the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Participate in IDG meetings and contribute to patient care planning.
  • Support infection control protocols and hospice standards of care.
  • Maintain relationships with community organizations and agencies to expand volunteer resources.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; college coursework or degree in human services, social work, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in volunteer coordination, program management, or related field.
  • Previous volunteer experience in hospice or healthcare setting preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sensitivity to diverse cultural, religious, and social backgrounds.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance required.
