Responsibilities:

Related is seeking a Vice President to join its Office Development team in New York. This individual will manage the execution of major commercial office development projects and evaluate and advance new commercial office development opportunities. The Vice President will work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to deliver complex, high-profile projects that create long-term value.

 

We’ll trust you to:

  • Manage day-to-day development activities for commercial office projects from pre-development through delivery and stabilization.
  • Drive project strategy and execution across site acquisition and due diligence, underwriting, zoning and entitlements, design, construction, financing, leasing coordination, and asset transition.
  • Develop, maintain, and present project budgets, schedules, financial analyses, business plans, and approval materials.
  • Partner with internal teams, including Construction, Design, Finance, Legal, Leasing, Marketing, and Operations, to establish and execute project objectives.
  • Manage external consultants and stakeholders, including architects, engineers, contractors, land-use advisors, brokers, attorneys, public-sector representatives, and joint venture partners.
  • Work with Design and Construction teams to optimize site planning, building efficiency, design integrity, constructability, and financial performance.
  • Monitor project progress against approved budgets, schedules, and business plans; identify risks early and recommend practical strategies to mitigate them.
  • Advise senior management of material issues and opportunities, including proposed operating, financial, leasing, and capital decisions requiring approval.
  • Evaluate and advance new commercial office development opportunities, including market analysis, diligence, underwriting, and preparation of investment-approval materials.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with public-sector stakeholders, community partners, tenants, consultants, and other project constituents.
  • Mentor and develop junior development professionals.
  • Represent Related with sound judgment, professionalism, integrity, and a high degree of accountability.
Qualifications:
  • 8 to 10+ years of relevant real estate development experience, preferably focused on commercial office development.
  • Direct experience leading at least one significant office project through a substantial portion of the full development lifecycle, ideally from pre-development through delivery.
  • Strong understanding of commercial office development, including financial modeling, development budgeting, design, construction, leasing considerations, and entitlement processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-party projects with significant financial, operational, and reputational considerations.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, including the ability to evaluate project economics, manage budgets, and interpret development pro formas.
  • Excellent project-management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands, manage deadlines, and drive execution in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic and entrepreneurial mindset, with sound business judgment and a practical, creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with senior executives and varied internal and external audiences.
  • Collaborative leadership style, with the confidence to be appropriately direct and the judgment to build alignment.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in real estate, business, architecture, planning, engineering, or a related field is a plus.

Compensation:

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. In addition to a competitive base salary, you will be eligible to receive discretionary bonus incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.

 

Anticipated base salary range: $200,000 - $225,000

Actual base salary within the anticipated range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and market factors.
