    Description

    VENUE DIRECTOR/ GENERAL MANAGER

THE SUNSET TERRACE I SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS

The Sunset Terrace is seeking an entrepreneurial, sales-driven event professional to help grow and operate one of San Antonio's most distinctive rooftop venues.

This is not a traditional 9-to-5 position. We are looking for someone who can generate business, convert inquiries into bookings, coordinate exceptional events, and become the trusted local leader of the venue.

    THE OPPORTUNITY

The Venue Director will work directly with ownership and take responsibility for the day-to-day growth and operation of The Sunset Terrace.

Your mission will be to build a consistent pipeline of profitable events while delivering a professional, organized, and elevated experience for every client.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Respond to inquiries and conduct venue tours.
    • Prepare proposals, close bookings, and manage the event calendar.
    • Maintain client communication from the initial inquiry through post-event follow-up.
    • Coordinate vendors, setup, security, cleaning, rentals, and event logistics.
    • Supervise events when necessary and protect the venue and building.
    • Build relationships with planners, companies, hotels, nonprofits, luxury brands, and hospitality partners.
    • Develop a strong preferred-vendor network.
    • Create attractive event packages that are easy for clients to understand and purchase.
    • Generate additional revenue through planning, coordination, referrals, and vendor partnerships.
    • Maintain operating procedures, event checklists, and service standards.
    • Provide regular reports covering leads, tours, bookings, revenue, and upcoming events.

THIS IS ALSO A SALES ROLE

The right person must be comfortable actively pursuing business - not simply waiting for inquiries. We are looking for someone who consistently thinks about how to create relationships, generate leads, and put profitable events on the calendar.

    VENUE + PLANNING + CATERING + BAR + DECOR + ENTERTAINMENT + RENTALS + PHOTOGRAPHY + SECURITY + CLEANING

Our goal is to offer clients more than a beautiful venue. Through a trusted network of professionals, The Sunset Terrace can make hosting an event easier while creating multiple sources of revenue for the business.

    THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

    Relevant experience may include:

    • Event or wedding planning
    • Venue management
    • Hospitality or hotel events
    • Catering or event sales
    • Corporate events or luxury hospitality

We are especially interested in someone who is:

    • Entrepreneurial and proactive
    • Strong in sales and relationship-building
    • Highly organized and dependable
    • Connected within the San Antonio event community
    • Resourceful and calm under pressure
    • Financially minded and focused on profitability
    • Professional when representing the venue and ownership
    • Comfortable using technology and Al to manage leads, communication, marketing, and operations

    COMPENSATION AND GROWTH OPPORTUNITY

Compensation will be designed to reward both the work performed and the revenue generated. The initial structure may include:

    • A monthly operating retainer
    • Payment for managing or supervising events
    • Commission on events personally generated or closed
    • Performance bonuses tied to revenue and profitability
    • Additional incentives for developing profitable packages, partnerships, or service revenue

This position does not include immediate ownership.

After a minimum of 18 months, ownership may consider offering a small, performance-based equity opportunity to an exceptional person who has demonstrated loyalty, leadership, strong results, and the ability to grow the business profitably.

Any ownership opportunity would be earned gradually, subject to a separate written agreement, and tied to continued performance and involvement in the business.

    REPORTING STRUCTURE

The Venue Director will report directly to ownership and work closely with Catalina Lynd, Founder and Creative Director.

Catalina will continue overseeing the brand, creative vision, marketing strategy, important partnerships, and overall guest experience. The Venue Director will lead local sales, client follow-up, event coordination, and day-to-day execution.

    WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

    • Consistent and profitable monthly bookings
    • A growing pipeline of qualified leads
    • A professional inquiry, tour, and booking process
    • Strong relationships within the San Antonio event community
    • Multiple event-related revenue streams
    • Excellent client reviews and a strong local reputation
    • Reliable procedures and event standards
    • Clear financial and operational reporting
    • A venue that operates professionally without requiring ownership to attend every event

    About Company

To tackle those complex problems, Secretary of Defense McNamara recommended establishing an organization of specialists. Three weeks later, in October 1961, LMI was born. Since then, LMI has evolved, growing and building on its rich history of public service by bringing the best management and technical minds to address intricate issues across government. As administrations, priorities, and policies have changed over the last 50 years, LMI's mission has remained constant. Our employees come from diverse backgrounds: government and defense, business and industry, and academia and research. More than half are either veterans or former civil servants, and more than 70 percent have advanced degrees. They work for LMI because they believe in our mission of improving the management of government. Public sector organizations value our not-for-profit status services in logistics, acquisition and financial management, infrastructure management, information management, organizational improvement, and policy and program support. We have comprehensive experience in the defense, intelligence, homeland security, health care, and energy and environment markets. LMI also invests in a research program that brings additional rigor, precision, and predictability to government decision-making. We encourage our employees to expand their expertise and use the results of their research to find new solutions to governments' greatest management challenges.
