Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Validation Engineer to plan, execute, and report on testing and validation activities for electric vehicle (EV) systems and components. You will work closely with cross-functional and international teams to ensure compliance with FMVSS, EPA, CARB, and internal standards. This role will contribute to product development by supporting performance validation, regulatory testing, and documentation for homologation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage DVP&R (Design Verification Plan and Report) for vehicle systems and components.
- Plan and execute functional, durability, thermal, vibration, NVH, and environmental validation tests.
- Ensure compliance with FMVSS, EPA, CARB, and other regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with regulatory and homologation teams for test planning and documentation.
- Analyze test data, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams for issue resolution.
- Manage test activities with internal and international external labs.
- Support vehicle builds and instrumentation for testing.
- Maintain accurate and organized validation documentation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Technical Expertise:
- Proficiency in vehicle validation methods and automotive testing procedures.
- Experience with data acquisition systems (e.g., NI, Vector), sensors, and instrumentation.
- Familiarity with EMC, thermal, vibration, and structural testing.
- Hands-on knowledge of EV system testing (e.g., battery, Client, eAxle, VCU).
- Experience in test automation and test procedure documentation.
Standards & Compliance:
- Strong understanding of FMVSS, EPA, CARB regulations.
- ISO 26262 and functional safety knowledge is a plus.
Problem-Solving & Communication:
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to generate concise validation reports and communicate results effectively.
- Excellent coordination with cross-functional and supplier teams.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor''s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering (Master''s preferred).
- 5+ years in automotive validation or test engineering (preferably in EV domain).
- 3+ years of system or vehicle-level testing.
- 2+ years of experience with MATLAB/Simulink (Simulink Test is a plus).
Work Conditions:
- Primarily office and lab environment.
- Occasional international travel (e.g., China) required.
- Typical work week: Monday-Friday; no regular weekend or overtime expected.
