    Minimum Qualifications

    High School Graduate or GED. Two years of advanced clerical and public contact experience.

    The VACE Specialist provides administrative and clerical support to the Department of Value Adjustment (VAB) and Code Enforcement (CE) within the Clerk of Courts and Comptroller's Office. Responsibilities include receiving and verifying VAB petitions and CE appeals, processing filing fees, data entry, and maintaining case files. The Clerk manages incoming and outgoing mail and responds to public and agency inquiries. Additional duties include attending hearings to assist Special Magistrates and Hearing Officers with their quasi-judicial functions and supporting related administrative tasks to ensure the efficient operation of the VAB and Code Enforcement processes.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • College-level coursework

    • Experience related to legal courtroom proceedings

    • Experience with Property Taxation matters is highly desirable

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Attending hearings and providing administrative support to Special Magistrates and Hearing Officers.

    • Managing incoming and outgoing mail.

    • Filing and retrieving case files and performing in-house audits.

    • Providing assistance and support to members of the public in various situations.

    • Receiving and processing filing fees, or other financial transactions.

    • Responding to inquiries from the public, legal professionals, and County agencies both in person and by phone.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Strong communication & organizational skills.

    • Knowledge of effective public customer service.

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other commonly used programs in an office setting.

    • Knowledge of property exemptions, assessments, and classifications is highly desirable.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Work is primarily performed in an office environment, with extended periods at a computer. Occasional travel may be required to support job fairs and/or external events. May involve moderate lifting (up to 25 lbs).
