A highly respected private client law firm is seeking an experienced Trusts & Estates Paralegal to join its growing New York office. This newly created position offers the opportunity to work closely with attorneys serving high-net-worth individuals, families, family offices, entrepreneurs, and privately held businesses on sophisticated estate planning, estate administration, trust administration, and tax matters.
This is an excellent opportunity for a paralegal who enjoys handling substantive trusts and estates work in a collaborative, client-focused environment.

Responsibilities
• Assist attorneys with the preparation of sophisticated estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.
• Prepare probate and estate administration filings for New York Surrogate's Courts.
• Draft estate administration documents and assist with all phases of estate settlement.
• Coordinate the transfer of estate assets and administration of beneficiary distributions.
• Prepare trust accountings, receipt and release agreements, and beneficiary communications.
• Assist with trust administration, including administration of life insurance trusts and preparation of withdrawal right notices.
• Prepare initial drafts of federal estate and gift tax returns.
• Obtain Taxpayer Identification Numbers (TINs) and support tax compliance matters.
• Conduct legal research related to trusts, estates, probate, and tax issues.
• Maintain and organize confidential client files and estate records.
• Communicate with clients, financial institutions, accountants, fiduciaries, and court personnel.
• Coordinate estate asset inventories and valuations.
• Assist with the formation of LLCs and preparation of organizational documents and operating agreements.

Qualifications
• Minimum of 4 years of Trusts & Estates Paralegal experience within a law firm environment.
• Strong knowledge of New York estate planning, probate, and trust administration procedures.
• Experience preparing probate petitions for New York Surrogate's Courts.
• Thorough understanding of estate administration, including asset transfers, creditor claims, and beneficiary distributions.
• Experience administering trusts and preparing trust accountings.
• Familiarity with federal estate and gift tax return preparation.
• Experience with business entity formations, including LLCs.
• Proficiency with legal research platforms and trusts and estates software programs.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and client service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
• Professional, dependable, and team-oriented approach.
