A respected California-based law firm is seeking a Trust & Estate Attorney to join its growing estate planning and business advisory practice. The firm advises high-net-worth individuals, business owners, and families on estate planning, tax strategy, and trust and probate administration matters.
Responsibilities:
Design and draft comprehensive estate plans, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives
Advise clients on estate, gift, and GST tax planning strategies, including lifetime gifting and wealth transfer techniques
Handle trust and probate administration matters, including post-mortem planning and asset distribution
Represent fiduciaries, trustees, executors, and beneficiaries
Collaborate with external advisors such as accountants and financial planners on integrated planning strategies
Prepare and review federal estate and gift tax returns
Conduct legal research and stay current on developments in estate and tax law
Manage multiple client matters independently while meeting deadlines
Qualifications:
J.D. from an accredited law school
Active California State Bar membership in good standing
2+ years of experience in estate planning and trust administration
Strong knowledge of estate, gift, and GST tax principles
Experience working with high-net-worth individuals preferred
Ability to manage complex planning and administration matters independently
Excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
LL.M. in Taxation preferred but not required
Client-focused with the ability to build strong professional relationships
Team-oriented with a proactive and detail-driven approach
