  • Patient Volume: Approximately 8–9 visits per day with CNA assistance

Wound Care RN Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse license in Wisconsin or a valid compact RN license
  • At least 2 years of professional wound care nursing experience, or recognized wound and ostomy certification
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate Degree in Nursing or an applicable nursing certificate
  • Required Epic electronic medical record experience
  • Wound and ostomy nursing experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to work effectively in an outpatient procedural environment
  • Ability to participate in occasional inpatient and emergency department wound care consultations

Wound Care Registered Nurse Responsibilities

  • Implement individualized wound care plans developed by the advanced practice provider
  • Provide topical wound care and compression wrap applications
  • Apply and manage negative pressure wound therapy, including wound VAC treatment
  • Perform total contact casting and conservative sharp wound debridement within scope of practice
  • Complete ostomy pouching system changes and treat peristomal skin breakdown
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, monitor wound healing progress, and communicate changes in condition
  • Provide wound care consultations for inpatient and emergency department patients as needed
  • Educate patients and caregivers on wound management, ostomy care, skin protection, and follow-up needs
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in Epic and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to support safe, consistent outcomes
  • Follow professional nursing standards, infection prevention practices, and department protocols
