Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,320–$2,440
  • Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract

  • Schedule: Day shift, four days per week; generally 7:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
  • Shift Duration: 8-hour days
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Weekend and Holiday Requirements: No weekends or holidays
  • Call Expectations: May be placed on call during low census; callback minimum is 2 hours
  • Patient Volume: Approximately 8–9 visits per RN per day with CNA support
  • Potential Float: An affiliated wound clinic in nearby Woodruff, Wisconsin

Wound Care Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Active Wisconsin or compact Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • At least 2 years of wound care nursing experience, or wound care certification demonstrating equivalent expertise
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate Degree in Nursing or an approved nursing certificate
  • Prior wound and ostomy care experience strongly preferred
  • Wound and ostomy certification preferred
  • Experience with Epic electronic medical record documentation required
  • Ability to wear appropriate scrubs and closed-toe shoes; artificial nails and nail polish are not permitted

Wound Care RN Responsibilities

  • Deliver individualized wound care based on established plans of care developed by the advanced practice provider
  • Perform topical wound care, compression wrapping, and wound VAC management
  • Provide total contact casting and conservative sharp wound debridement as appropriate to scope and competency
  • Complete ostomy pouching system changes and treat peristomal skin breakdown
  • Conduct outpatient wound care visits and assist with inpatient and emergency department consultations
  • Assess wound progression, identify changes in patient condition, and communicate findings to the care team
  • Educate patients and caregivers on wound care techniques, skin protection, compression, and ostomy management
  • Document assessments, interventions, patient education, and outcomes accurately in Epic
  • Collaborate with providers, CNAs, and interdisciplinary team members to promote safe, coordinated patient care
