Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Women's Care Unit position requiring 2 years of MedSurg experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

• Acute care Women's Care Unit (Med/Surg) with 18 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Patient population includes hysterectomy, mastectomy, and postpartum (moms only) patients along with general medical/surgical cases
• 12-hour night shifts, 7pm-7:30am
• 4 weekend shifts required per schedule period
• Holiday coverage required as part of core staff rotation
• No call or standby requirements
• May float to other general medical units
• Uses EPIC EMR
• 1 charge nurse per shift plus a house supervisor
• PCT support at a ratio of 1 PCT per 12 patients, or 2 PCTs for more than 12 patients
• CPAP equipment used on the unit
• Patients may be on a heart monitor, but RNs are not required to read strips

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years of MedSurg experience required
• Experience with NG tube placement, foley catheter placement, and blood administration required
• Experience titrating heparin and insulin drips required
• BSN not required

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to postpartum and general medical/surgical patients, including titration of heparin and insulin drips
• 1 shift of unit-specific orientation provided, with additional shifts evaluated as needed
• Scrubs of any color permitted
• No COVID vaccine requirement for this facility
• Local rate applies for clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility
• No radius rule restricting eligibility
