Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Trauma ICU position at a Level I trauma teaching hospital, requiring WI or compact RN license and at least 2 years of ICU experience.

Details

  • Trauma ICU setting within a Level I trauma teaching hospital
  • Day/Evening shifts, 12-hour shifts (7:00-19:30), 3x12 schedule with option for 4x12 if interested
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • Christmas Eve and Christmas Day coverage required
  • Floating required as needed
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active WI RN license or compact RN license required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only)
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required, including Medical, Surgical, and Trauma ICU experience
  • Must have acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty being applied to
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Trauma Level I experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Must pass a telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to starting, including 100% identification of lethal rhythms and 80% or higher overall score
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central and PICC line care, and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, and respiratory failure care
  • Experience managing continuous IV sedation, vasoactive and cardiac drips, and emergency medications
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and multisystem organ dysfunction care
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols and acute/chronic renal failure care

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to trauma, medical, and surgical ICU patients
  • Assist with chest tube insertion/removal and manage ventilated and critically ill patients
  • May care for patients with EVDs, ICP monitoring, spinal cord injuries, or traumatic brain injuries
  • May assist with GI surgery patients and multisystem organ dysfunction management
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
  • Located at University Hospital, a Magnet-designated facility ranked as Wisconsin's #1 hospital
