Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Transplant/Telemetry RN for a night shift position at a busy Level 1 Trauma hospital, requiring a TX or compact RN license and prior transplant/CVT experience.

Details

  • Work in the 25 Tower Transplant unit, a telemetry-focused acute care setting within a busy Level 1 Trauma hospital
  • Unit has 28 beds with a 1:4 patient ratio
  • Patient population includes single & multi-organ transplant and LVAD patients
  • Common diagnoses treated with cardiac drips, with dosaging for Rituxan and Thymo (no drip titration required)
  • RT equipment used includes BiPap, CPap, and High Flow
  • Tele/monitor tech support available, though RNs are responsible for reading strips
  • Charge nurse support available on the unit
  • Nurse aide support not always available
  • Night shift schedule with every other weekend (EOW) requirement
  • Self-scheduling based on unit needs; block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
  • First to float to like units when needed
  • No call requirements
  • Uses EPIC EMR system

Requirements

  • Active TX or compact RN license required (pending licenses not accepted)
  • Required certifications: BLS and ACLS (ACLS preferred), NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of experience required, though 3+ years with previous travel experience strongly preferred
  • CVT post-op experience preferred
  • LVAD experience preferred
  • Experience working in a busy, high-acuity hospital setting preferred
  • BSN not required for this position
  • Candidates trained to assess using dopplers for MAPP
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care to transplant and LVAD patients in a high-acuity telemetry environment
  • Candidates must be flexible with scheduling as self-scheduling cannot be guaranteed
  • Floating required with priority given to travelers for like units
  • Holiday coverage required
  • Navy scrub color required
  • Unit orientation consists of 2 shifts
