Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Telemetry RN for a night shift position at a Level II trauma center, requiring an active NV RN license and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

  • 38-bed telemetry unit staffed with RNs, CNAs, Critical Care Techs (CCTs), and Advanced Care Techs (ACTs)
  • Patient ratios typically 1:4 up to 1:6 based on acuity/workload
  • CCTs monitor ECG rhythms on all telemetry patients 24/7
  • ACTs assist with transport, admissions, discharges, IV and Foley insertion, ADLs, and limited medication administration
  • Patient population includes CHF, alcohol withdrawal, NSTEMI, sepsis, dysrhythmias, PNA, COPD, and COVID cases
  • Cares for post-procedure patients including pacemakers, ablations, cath lab procedures, and downgraded OHS/ICU patients
  • Administers non-titratable cardiac medication drips such as Cardizem, Lasix, and Nitro
  • 3x12 night shift schedule with 36 guaranteed weekly hours
  • Call is not required
  • May float to ICU (telemetry/medical appropriate assignments), medical-surgical units, and Renown South Meadows
  • Uses Epic EMR with training available during orientation or option to test out

Requirements

  • Active NV RN license required prior to start
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only)
  • NIHSS certification required (APEX)
  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience required
  • Must pass a telemetry competency exam including rhythm strip identification and measurement
  • Prior travel nursing experience required, including at least one recent 13-week assignment within the past year

Additional Information

  • Provides comprehensive nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients using the nursing process
  • Coordinates care with other professionals and involves family/caregivers in assessment and planning as appropriate
  • Works in a Level II trauma center with 800 inpatient beds and 80 ER beds serving a 500-mile radius
  • Fast-paced, high-volume environment comparable to a Level I trauma center
  • May float to other units up to competency level based on organizational needs
  • Required to work major holidays, with a minimum of 2 major holidays required
  • Required to pick up one additional shift every 4-week schedule period
  • Facility may cancel shifts (full or partial) with 48 hours notice for low census without penalty
  • Must reside more than 60 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
  • A 13-week break is required for returning employees after completing a prior contract
  • Blocked scheduling is not permitted
  • Requested RTO must be included at time of consideration and will not be added at the end of the contract
