Description

American Traveler is hiring a Telemetry RN with neurology experience for a night shift position requiring at least 6 months of neuro nursing background.

Details

• Short term acute care hospital setting on the Telemetry unit
• Level II Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, teaching hospital
• Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Weekend requirement of every other weekend
• Floating between units required
• No on-call required
• Epic charting system used

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum of 1 year RN experience required
• At least 6 months of neurology nursing experience required
• Proficiency with NIH Stroke Scale and care for a variety of neurology diagnoses
• Experience with neurological conditions including craniotomy, CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management and chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac)
• Experience with procedural sedation administration and monitoring
• Epic EMR experience required
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care to neuro stepdown and telemetry patients with a variety of neurological and cardiac diagnoses
• May be required to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
• Scrub color for RNs is any color
• No parking fee at this facility
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront during the application process
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the standard bill rate
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rate
• Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
