Description

American Traveler is hiring a Telemetry RN for a night shift position requiring at least 2 years of specialty experience and a VA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work on a 54-bed cardiovascular telemetry unit divided into three 18-bed wings
  • Also supports an overflow unit for cardiovascular telemetry patients
  • 1:6 patient ratio
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
  • Every other weekend required, including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights
  • Flexible scheduling preferred
  • Floating may be requested based on facility needs
  • May be scheduled to work if a holiday occurs during the assignment period

Requirements

  • Active VA RN license in hand or proof of compact license at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS (preferred), and NIHSS through the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Specialty experience within the last year required
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • NIH and stroke education required
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry monitoring required
  • Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management required
  • Experience with heparin protocols and managing cardiac drips required
  • Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization, post cardiac angiogram, post MI, pre/post cardiac surgery, and sheath removal required
  • Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide cardiac telemetry nursing care including monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and emergency response
  • Manage cardiac medication drips and heparin protocols
  • Care for patients pre/post cardiac catheterization, post MI, and pre/post cardiac surgery, including sheath removal
  • Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care
  • Preferred skills include chemotherapy administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, non-invasive airway management, central line care, PICC line management, isolation precautions/PPE, and wound care/wound vac
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
  • Prior permanent employees must have been separated from the facility for at least 6 months before being eligible for a travel assignment
  • RTO should be minimal, ideally no full calendar weeks off and no more than 7 total days during the assignment
  • All RTO requests must be submitted with the initial application and confirmed prior to any offer
