Unit Profile

  • Unit Name: 6A Med-Surg/Oncology
  • Number of Beds: 31
  • Patient Ratios: 6:1
  • Unit Staffing Description: Unit secretaries from 6 am to 10 pm; technicians available on all shifts
  • Documentation System: Meditech
  • Scheduling Requirements: 12-hour shifts with rotating weekends
  • Floating Policy: May float to other Med-Surg and Tele units
  • Experience Requirements: Minimum of one year of acute care experience

Qualifications

  • Required Certifications: BLS and ACLS; NIHSS certification preferred
  • Requested Skills:
    • Excellent physical assessment and documentation skills
    • Experience caring for acute care stroke patients
    • Strong time management skills
    • Developed critical thinking skills
    • Knowledge of core measures and prevention of hospital-acquired conditions (HACs) and healthcare-associated infections (HAIs)
  • Advanced Skills: Chemotherapy experience is a plus

Dress Code

Required uniform includes ceil blue scrubs with a white or ceil blue jacket if worn.
