Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a General Surgery Telemetry unit requiring telemetry competency and urology/bowel patient care experience.

Details

• Work on a 44-bed general surgery unit within a hospital setting
• Night shift schedule from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Patient ratios of 1:6 on day shift and 1:7 on night shift
• Utilizes telemetry, PCA, wound vacs, Baxter IV pumps, TPN, tube feeds, and urinary catheters
• Cerner EMR system used for charting
• Floating required to other med-surg areas
• 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule

Requirements

• Active RN license, NC or Compact, required
• BLS and telemetry certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Telemetry competency required
• Urology and bowel patient care experience required
• Ability to manage 6-7 patients depending on shift
• US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration (no Canadian SSN accepted)
• One professional reference required (two required for Florida and Missouri candidates)
• No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for surgical patients including cholecystectomies, appendectomies, bowel resections, urology surgeries, hysterectomies, mastectomies, and hernia repairs
• Manage procedures including TPN, PCA, wound vacs, tube feeds, PEG tubes, dobhoffs, NG tubes, colostomies, urostomies, and various drains
• Administer heparin drips and IV antibiotics
• Collaborate closely with charge nurse, unit secretary, providers, and CNA team
• Candidates should be positive, energetic, and strong communicators in a fast-paced environment
• Dress code requires navy blue pants with navy blue or white scrub top, white undershirt if needed, and no sweaters, sweatshirts, hoodies, or jackets
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, with no local candidates accepted
