    Key Responsibilities
    • Prepare and maintain operating rooms for scheduled surgical procedures, including setup of instruments, supplies, equipment, and specialty items per surgeon preference cards.
    • Perform surgical scrub duties and establish and maintain sterile fields using aseptic technique throughout ophthalmology, ENT, facial plastics, head and neck, and related procedures.
    • Anticipate surgeon and surgical team needs; pass instruments, sutures, medications, implants, and supplies while maintaining sterility and efficiency.
    • Perform and document sponge, sharps, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse in accordance with departmental policies; handle surgical specimens per regulatory requirements.
    • Assist with setup, troubleshooting, and utilization of specialty equipment including surgical microscopes, endoscopic equipment, image-guided navigation systems, laser systems, powered instrumentation, and robotic platforms.
    • Participate in Universal Protocol, patient identification, procedural verification, surgical time-out processes, and quality improvement initiatives in alignment with AORN standards and infection prevention guidelines.
    Required Qualifications
    • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program required.
    • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required, or must be obtained within the organizationally defined timeframe.
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of sterile technique, aseptic practice, and perioperative safety standards.
    • Ability to function effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary perioperative team.
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Minimum of one year of surgical technologist experience preferred.
    • Experience in ophthalmology, ENT, head and neck surgery, facial plastics, or other surgical subspecialties preferred.
    • Familiarity with microsurgical instrumentation and specialty ophthalmic or ENT equipment.
