PEL/VIP is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Peoria, Illinois.

Assignment Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for the Surgical Acute unit. The ideal candidate is experienced in post-operative care and comfortable with high patient turnover. You will work with a variety of cases including trauma and surgical patients, requiring effective critical thinking and teamwork skills.

Assignment Details

  • Unit: Surgical Acute
  • Number of Beds: 63 (49 private, 9 observation)
  • Nurse-Patient Ratios: Days 1:4-5, Nights 1:5-6 (can extend to 1:6-7 if needed)
  • Shift: 12-hour nights (19:30-07:30)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirement: Rotating every other holiday
  • Floating Requirement: First to float, must float to unit with similar experience
  • Estimated gross weekly pay package: $2565 (negotiable)
  • Orientation: Two shifts with preceptor, plus one 12-hour EPIC orientation
  • Charting System: EPIC

Responsibilities

  • Provide post-operative care and pain management
  • Perform wound care, IV therapy, and manage central lines
  • Collaborate with respiratory therapy for CPAP and high flow needs
  • Utilize critical thinking to address patient needs and ask for help when necessary

Qualifications

Required:

  • Active IL license or confirmation of application process
  • BLS certification (AHA)
  • Experience in post-op care with strong critical thinking skills
