Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Stepdown/Med-Surg unit requiring at least 1 year of experience and EPIC charting proficiency.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting on a 29-bed Stepdown/Med-Surg flex unit
  • Unit serves both floor and stepdown patients based on hospital needs
  • Diverse medical patient population
  • Nurse:patient ratios of 3:1 for stepdown and 6:1 for floor assignments
  • Clinical Associates support staff maintain a target ratio of 1:10
  • EPIC EMR used for charting
  • 12-hour night shifts, 7p-7:30a
  • Weekend schedule required, working every Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday
  • No call or standby requirements
  • First to float or be pulled to other floor/stepdown units
  • RNs titrate drips per orders including heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, phenobarbital, ketamine, and PCA medications (morphine/dilaudid/fentanyl), and TPN
  • Remote telemetry surveillance center and central monitoring available; RNs not required to read their own strips
  • Phillips telemetry monitoring equipment used
  • CPAP and BiPAP seen on both floor and stepdown; HiFlow and vents seen in stepdown
  • Charge RNs and House Supervisors available 24/7

Requirements

  • Active WV or compact RN license required
  • BLS certification (AHA) required
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • BSN not required
  • Able to manage a 6-patient med-surg or 3-patient stepdown assignment

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care across a flexible stepdown/med-surg unit
  • Expect to work approximately half of all recognized hospital holidays
  • Scrub colors limited to royal blue and white combinations
  • First-time travelers and new grads are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates not accepted; radius rule requires residing more than 50 miles from the facility
  • Returning travelers must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying to any WVU Medicine location
  • Travelers may not work within WVU Medicine facilities for longer than one year before taking a mandatory 2-year break
  • Cumulative experience across assignments applies toward the 1-year limit
