Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Stepdown/Medsurg unit requiring EPIC experience and a WV or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care Stepdown/Medsurg flex unit serving both floor and stepdown patients based on need
• 29-bed unit currently under construction, with all beds stepdown-equipped upon completion in Q1 2026
• Diverse medical patient population
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 3:1 for stepdown and 6:1 for floor patients
• RNs titrate drips per orders, including heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, phenobarbital, ketamine, opioid PCAs, and TPN
• Remote telemetry surveillance center with central monitoring on unit using Philips telemetry equipment
• RNs are not required to read their own telemetry strips
• Respiratory equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, HiFlow, and vents on stepdown (vent setting changes go to ICU)
• Nurse aids (Clinical Associates) support the unit at a target ratio of 1:10
• Charge RNs and House Supervisors staffed 24/7; charge RNs may take an assignment when the unit first opens
• Night shift, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, working every other weekend
• EPIC EMR used for charting
• First to float or be pulled to other floor/stepdown units
• No call or standby requirements

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification (AHA)
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Ability to manage a 6-patient med-surg or 3-patient stepdown assignment
• Open to both new and experienced nurses

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across a flex unit serving both medical-surgical and stepdown patients
• Expect to work approximately half of all facility-recognized holidays
• Scrub colors limited to combinations of royal blue and white
• Radius requirement of 50 miles from the facility (100 miles for Princeton Community Hospital); local travelers not accepted
• Travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must complete a 2-year break before reapplying
• Maximum continuous assignment length at WVU facilities is one year, followed by a required 2-year break
• Former staff of Princeton Community, Potomac Valley, and Garrett Regional are not eligible to return as travelers
• EKG testing may be required for stepdown, PCU, and ICU roles at select facilities
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
