Travel Nursing Job Details

  • Schedule Requirements: Three weekends every six weeks and every other holiday
  • Float Expectation: May float within the nurse’s skill set to nearby affiliated campuses with advance notice
  • Documentation: Recent Epic experience required, including completion of a checkoff class

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; current compact license required
  • Associate degree or nursing certificate
  • At least 2 years of RN experience, including 1 full year in a cardiac stepdown, progressive care, or similar high-acuity setting
  • At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment
  • Level II trauma experience
  • Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • Recent Epic electronic health record (EHR) charting experience
  • Strong telemetry knowledge and ability to pass required telemetry assessments
  • Excellent patient assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and adaptability skills

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care for cardiac, neurologic, and medically complex progressive-care patients
  • Monitor and interpret telemetry and 12-lead EKG findings while recognizing changes in patient condition
  • Care for patients recovering from cardiac catheterization, stent placement, cardiac interventions, and pacemaker procedures
  • Assess and manage arrhythmias, stroke, sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis, respiratory distress, detoxification and CIWA needs, and patients with feeding tubes
  • Initiate and titrate medications and infusions such as Cardizem, amiodarone, nicardipine, nitroglycerin, insulin, and heparin according to orders and protocol
  • Perform focused neurologic assessments, NIHSS evaluations, and dysphagia screenings
  • Provide post-cardiac catheterization care, including femoral access site and TR band management
  • Manage chest tubes, CPAP, Optiflow, peripheral IV insertion, and other progressive-care interventions
  • Support a collaborative learning environment, including precepting students and new team members when needed
  • Prioritize safe, compassionate patient care while responding effectively to changing patient needs
