  • Unit Environment: 42-bed PCU/stepdown unit with cardiac monitoring and interdisciplinary clinical support

  • Float Expectations: May float to telemetry or medical-surgical units when staffing needs arise

PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington or a compact license in hand at submission
  • At least 1 year of recent PCU, stepdown, progressive care, or comparable acute-care nursing experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips; this is a required qualification
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
  • Recent Epic charting experience
  • Strong cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation skills
  • Ability to care for patients with conditions such as CHF, atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response, chest pain, myocardial infarction evaluation, post-cardiac catheterization needs, and cardiac drip management
  • Ability to work every other weekend and participate in three of five designated holidays when scheduled
  • Previous charge nurse experience is preferred
  • Two professional references covering at least one year of clinical experience within the past three years

PCU Travel Nurse Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to adult and geriatric PCU patients requiring close monitoring
  • Assess, monitor, and manage patients receiving cardiac and vasoactive infusions, including titration according to protocol
  • Interpret cardiac rhythms and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
  • Provide care related to telemetry, central lines, PICC lines, chest tubes, arterial blood gases, oxygen therapy, noninvasive airway support, and surgical drains
  • Manage patients before and after cardiac catheterization, cardiac angiography, myocardial infarction evaluation, and other higher-acuity procedures
  • Administer medications and blood products while following safety protocols and applicable clinical guidelines
  • Coordinate care with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rapid response teams, IV services, physical therapy, radiology, social services, and other members of the interdisciplinary team
  • Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in Epic
  • Respond to emergencies and collaborate with rapid response or code teams as needed
  • Float to telemetry or medical-surgical units when required to support patient care and staffing needs
