Description

American Traveler is seeking a Stepdown/PCU RN with at least 1 year of experience and a TX or compact RN license for a day shift position with a mixed med/surg and intermediate care patient population.

Details

  • Stepdown/PCU unit with a mix of med/surg and intermediate care patients
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:6 depending on assignment
  • Day shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • 36 or 48 hour per week scheduling options available
  • May be required to float to Med/Surg during overflow situations
  • Epic EMR experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
  • Prior charge nurse experience preferred
  • Experience with cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and rapid response/code teams
  • Experience starting and maintaining IVs, central/peripheral line care, and IV therapy/phlebotomy
  • Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (titration preferred)
  • Experience with non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, and ABG interpretation
  • Wound care and isolation precautions/PPE experience
  • Cardiovascular care experience including pre/post cardiac cath and cardiac surgery preferred
  • Renal failure and CBI management experience preferred
  • IV insulin protocol experience
  • Experience caring for CVA and substance withdrawal patients

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care for a mixture of telemetry, stepdown, and med/surg patients
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and respond to emergencies as needed
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for the position
  • Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a travel nurse
  • No more than 3 days of requested time off will be auto-approved, and no time off is permitted during the first week of orientation
  • Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position
