Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Step Down unit position requiring 2+ years of high-acuity/ICU experience and recent vasopressor titration skills.

Details

  • Work in the Step Down unit of an acute care hospital
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM)
  • 36 guaranteed hours per week
  • Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday for day shift)
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Float to lower acuity floors within scope as needed
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active RN license (MO or compact, cannot be tied to another compact state)
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Must have been at the bedside within the last 6 months
  • ICU experience or high-acuity step down experience required
  • Recent travel experience within the last 6 months required
  • Skilled in titration of vasopressors, sedation medication, and insulin drips
  • Experience with trach vents, arterial lines, external pacemakers, and chest tubes required
  • Trauma Level II hospital experience required
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility

Additional Information

  • Provide advanced nursing care to high-acuity step down patients including cardiac, neurological, and respiratory management
  • Manage patients with complex conditions such as CVA, traumatic brain injury, seizure disorders, and renal failure
  • Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and coordinate with rapid response/code teams
  • Navy scrub color required
  • No parking costs at this facility
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
  • Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
  • Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period, requiring a 3-month break in service afterward
  • Maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
  • Facial hair must accommodate proper fit testing or must be shaved for compliance
