Description

American Traveler is seeking a Step Down RN with telemetry and cardiac monitoring experience for a night shift assignment requiring an OH or compact RN license.

Details

  • Step Down/PCU unit located within a hospital setting
  • Unit is a locked corrections unit for Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections (ODRC) inmates requiring Corrections Officer access
  • 36 hours/week on night shift (3x12 Hours, 19:00-7:30)
  • Patient population includes active oncology diagnoses (solid tumor and hematology) as well as patients with oncology history admitted for other reasons such as surgical procedures, COPD, sepsis, abnormal labs, and pneumonia
  • Float required within OSU system
  • Every other weekend required (Friday & Saturday nights)
  • Epic charting system preferred

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Previous telemetry experience required
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols and insulin drips
  • Strong cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills
  • Experience with peripheral line care/management and starting/maintaining IVs
  • Skilled in oxygen administration and nasal cannula use
  • Familiarity with isolation precautions/PPE
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or supervisor; second reference may be from a Charge RN; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and rapid response/code team support
  • Candidates with only 1 year of experience will be reviewed by the manager rather than receiving an auto offer
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
  • Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for travel assignment
  • Locals accepted at the same rate
  • RTO must be submitted with application and built into contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to urgent credentialing timelines
