Job Title: Special Procedures Technologist Profession: Special Procedures Technologist Specialty: Special Procedures Technologist Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Day Shift, Monday to Friday Hours per Shift: 8 hours per day Experience: Preferred experience in Cath Lab or Special Procedures License: Radiologic Tech (RT) in the state of practice required Certifications: - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification preferred - Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor required Description: Perform, assist, and complete Cardiac and Vascular Radiographic examinations. Perform active radiographic interventional procedures in the cardiovascular lab using various complicated and sophisticated equipment. Operate equipment to produce digital images of designated body portions as ordered by physicians. Position and instruct patients for examinations and perform specialized studies. Operate diagnostic imaging equipment to produce contrast-enhanced radiographs of the heart and cardiovascular system during cardiac catheterization. Aid physicians in diagnostic evaluation and treatment. Position and immobilize patients on the examining table using following specified protocols. Assist physicians with specialized procedures, including special exams. Enter technical factors such as the amount and quality of radiation beam and specified filming sequences into the computer. Manipulate and position the x-ray tube in response to instructions from the physician. Start the automatic injection of contrast medium into patients' blood vessels.
