Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring 2+ years of SICU experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

  • Work in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)
  • Cares for post cardiac surgery, pre/post cardiac cath intervention, and high acuity ICU patients
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Potential floating to other ICUs and step-down units
  • No on-call requirements
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active RN license (LA or Compact) required in hand upon submission
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications required)
  • Minimum 2 years of SICU experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required (unit will not accept first-time travelers)
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring and Central Venous Pressure (CVP) monitoring required
  • Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) required
  • Experience with IV therapy including blood product administration, central line, and PICC line management required
  • Experience with drip titration required
  • Experience with chest tube insertion/removal and care of ventilated patients required
  • Two Manager/Supervisor references required for clearance to start (Charge RNs not accepted)
  • Up-to-date NURSYS report required (within 4 weeks of submission)

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to surgical ICU patients including post-cardiac surgery and transplant recovery cases
  • Experience with liver, kidney, pancreas, heart, or lung transplant recovery is a plus but not required
  • LVAD/RVAD experience is a plus
  • May be assigned to an emergency response team during facility emergency events, with expectation to remain onsite or serve as part of a relief team
  • Must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
  • Orientation held 5 days a week
  • Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel position
  • RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
  • Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
