Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Surgical ICU RN with required transplant experience and post cardiac surgery skills for a high-acuity night shift position.

Details

  • Work in a high-acuity Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) and Transplant ICU setting
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12 or 4x12 hour options, 18:45-7:15
  • Float requirement to other ICUs and Step-Down Units (SDUs)
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • No block scheduling requests accommodated
  • No call-in shifts required

Requirements

  • Active LA or compact RN license required in hand upon submittal
  • Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of specialty experience required
  • Required transplant experience: liver, heart, lung, kidney, and/or pancreas
  • Post Cardiac Surgery (directly from the OR) experience required
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Skills required include arterial line management, central line care, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT/CVVHD) required
  • Experience with chronic/acute renal failure required
  • Preferred experience with PA catheters and balloon pumps
  • Up-to-date NURSYS report required (within 4 weeks of submission)

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care to post-surgical and transplant recovery patients, including CABG, valve replacement/repair, aortic dissection, and organ transplant recovery (liver, heart, lung, kidney, pancreas)
  • May be assigned to an Emergency Team requiring the traveler to remain onsite during an emergency event or serve as part of a relief team
  • Orientation is held five days a week
  • Two Manager/Supervisor references (not Charge RN) required prior to starting the contract, though not required for initial consideration
  • Candidates must reside more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible for this travel position
  • Former permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a one-year separation from the health system before returning as a travel nurse
  • RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process to avoid risk of offer rescission
