Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring MICU and/or SICU experience with a Level I trauma center.

Details

• Work in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) of a hospital environment
• Care for complex, high acuity medical and trauma/neuro/surgical ICU patients
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts (19:00-7:30)
• Block scheduling available for day or night shifts
• Floating primarily within the Critical Care Division, with additional floating to other units based on census needs
• Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs
• Cerner charting system experience preferred

Requirements

• Active RN license (Montana or Compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (PALS preferred)
• Minimum 1+ year of experience in specialty required
• MICU and/or SICU experience required; float pool-only experience does not meet requirements
• Level I Trauma experience required; Level II Trauma experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central and PICC line care, blood product administration, and TPN/Lipids
• Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and care of ventilated patients
• Experience managing cardiac drips, vasoactive drips, and continuous IV sedation/paralytics
• Experience with CVA/stroke management, ICP monitoring, and post-neurosurgery care preferred
• Experience with CRRT/CVVHD and renal failure management preferred
• References required for consideration

Additional Information

• Deliver independent, competent nursing care to high acuity ICU patients with complex medical, trauma, neuro, and surgical needs
• Work within a Level I Trauma Center setting
• Candidates must reside within a 75-mile radius; local candidates not accepted
• Former permanent employees must have a 2-year break in employment before eligibility
• License or background check hits will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis for approval
• First-time travelers are not preferred for this role due to the specialized skill level required
