Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of experience and Trauma Level I/II experience for a night shift position at a hospital's respiratory care unit.

Details

  • Night shift schedule, alternating 4x8 and 5x8 hour shifts from 18:30-03:00, totaling 72 hours per pay period
  • No weekend shifts required
  • Works in adult critical care, emergency department, NICU, pediatric critical care, and pediatric settings
  • Involved in patient transports and neonatal inter-departmental transports
  • Uses medication delivery systems including aerosol setups, nebulizers, and metered dose inhalers
  • Administers a range of respiratory medications including bronchodilators, steroids, and Nitric Oxide
  • Performs neonatal/pediatric procedures such as CPAP/BiPAP, high-frequency oscillating ventilation, intubation assist, and capillary/umbilical blood gases
  • Provides care for patients with ARDS, aspiration, cystic fibrosis, pneumonia, and fresh tracheostomy
  • Manages oxygen therapy including ET tube, HFNC, and trach collar
  • Performs ventilator management including CPAP, BiPAP, IMV, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
  • Uses Epic for charting

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
  • NICU/Pediatric RRT experience preferred
  • Trauma Level I and Level II experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Active RRT license required if applicable (state license pending accepted, must be obtained by start date)
  • NBRC RRT certification required
  • BLS, ACLS, NRP, and PALS certifications required
  • Skilled in airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and oral/nasal suctioning
  • Proficient in drawing and interpreting arterial blood gases
  • Experience with chest physiotherapy and basic EKG interpretation

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers will be considered for this position
  • Candidates must reside more than 25 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
  • Former permanent staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 9 months before returning as a traveler
  • Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted, with no RTO allowed during the first 2 weeks of the assignment
  • All RTO requests must be disclosed and approved prior to assignment start
  • Travelers are required to work holidays as needed by the facility
  • Dove gray scrub color required
  • Provides direct patient care across neonatal, pediatric, and adult critical care populations
  • Assists with high-risk deliveries and neonatal transports
  • Participates in ventilator management and weaning protocols for a range of respiratory conditions
