Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a NICU night shift position requiring 2+ years of high-risk delivery and neonatal experience, with first-time travelers accepted.

Details

  • Work in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) within a hospital setting
  • Patient population ranges from neonates to pediatrics
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
  • Weekend rotation every other weekend unless otherwise specified
  • Floating required within the facility, including to adult care units, and possibly to a sister campus
  • On-call sign-up available during volume variation
  • Uses Epic EMR system
  • Uses Draeger and Servo I ventilators

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience required
  • NICU and high-risk delivery experience required
  • License required if applicable
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, RRT, NRP, PALS
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Skilled in umbilical cord gas draws and interpretation
  • Proficient in pulmonary toileting, ABG interpretation, and basic EKG
  • Experience with BiPAP, CPAP, trach collar, and surfactant administration
  • Skilled in airway management including extubation, oral/nasal airway placement, and suctioning
  • Experience with high frequency oscillator ventilation and troubleshooting high pressure alarms
  • Experience weaning patients from mechanical ventilation
  • Experience assisting in high-risk deliveries and labor/delivery settings
  • First-time travelers accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide respiratory care services to neonatal and pediatric patients including those requiring high-risk delivery support
  • Perform medication administration via various delivery systems including nebulizers, MDIs, and aerosol setups
  • Assist with bronchoscopy procedures and tracheostomy care/management
  • Perform sputum specimen collection and pulmonary hygiene tasks
  • Scrub color required is hunter green
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, and all RTO must be finalized at time of submission
  • If one or two major holidays fall during the assignment, traveler is expected to work them with no holiday RTO permitted
  • If three major holidays fall during the assignment, traveler is expected to work two of them, with one holiday RTO request eligible for review
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • Compliance documents must be completed promptly to avoid a two-week delay in start date due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling
