Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner for a hospital inpatient respiratory care position requiring an Illinois RCP license and NBRC-CRT certification.

Details

  • Inpatient respiratory care unit setting, including support for the Emergency Department
  • Treats Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric patient populations
  • Performs routine and critical respiratory care procedures under supervision of a Respiratory Care Supervisor and Medical Director
  • Obtains and analyzes arterial, venous, and capillary blood gases
  • EPIC EMR charting required
  • Day shift schedule, 7:00AM-7:30PM
  • 36 hours per week, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week
  • Weekend and holiday shifts as needed
  • Floating as needed
  • High-risk department designation

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association)
  • Illinois RCP license required if applicable
  • NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential
  • Solid understanding of all aspects of respiratory care
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Level 1 Trauma experience required

Additional Information

  • Performs routine and critical respiratory care procedures across all age groups
  • Disassembles, cleans, and prepares respiratory equipment for safe operation
  • Accurately documents and charges for respiratory care in the EMR
  • Completes assessments on ventilator patients and other respiratory care patients
  • Recommends timely interventions and communicates findings to physicians
  • Assists with cleaning and stocking respiratory care equipment and supplies on inpatient units
  • Functions as a clinical role model demonstrating strong technical and clinical judgment skills
  • Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
  • RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
  • Assignment length limited to 1 year, after which a 6-month break in service is required before returning to this health system
