Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a Critical Care/ICU setting serving adult and geriatric populations, including management of high-acuity diagnoses such as respiratory failure, stroke, STEMI/NSTEMI, cardiogenic and septic shock, GI bleeds, and post-operative disorders
- Operate and monitor advanced equipment including bedside SpaceLabs monitoring (ECG, O2, respiratory, BP, CVP, PA), ventilators, Prismaflex CRRT machines, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps, and IV infusion pumps
- Perform and manage advanced nursing skills including IV starts, blood draws, NG tube placement, ECG rhythm interpretation, ABG and lab interpretation, critical care drip titration, arterial lines, chest tubes, and central venous line management
- Assist physicians with bedside procedures and conscious/moderate sedation; communicate with physicians via secure messaging application
- Float as needed to CVICU, Critical Care Step-Down, and Med-Surg floors based on unit needs
- Document patient care accurately using Meditech EHR with clinical access for ICU patients
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license valid in the state of Alabama or compact licensure eligibility
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 5 years of critical care/ICU nursing experience
- Proficiency in critical care skills including ventilator management, arterial lines, chest tubes, central venous lines, and critical care drip titration
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment with strong communication and time management skills
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in a teaching hospital environment working alongside resident physicians
- Experience managing advanced devices such as CRRT, IABP, and arterial sheath pulls in a high-acuity ICU setting
- Background in SICU, MICU, CVICU, Neuro ICU, or PCU/Med-Surg settings
- Familiarity with Meditech EHR and bedside monitoring systems such as SpaceLabs
