Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position at a Level 3 trauma facility, requiring 5 years of critical care experience and AHA certifications.

Details

  • Work in the Critical Care Services unit (2nd Floor) of a Level 3 trauma facility
  • Critical Care/Intensive Care specialty with adult and geriatric patient population
  • Treats conditions including respiratory failure, ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, STEMI/NSTEMI, cardiogenic shock, septic shock, GI bleeds, and post-operative GI disorders
  • Patient ratios vary by unit: CCU 1:2-1:3, CVICU 1:2-1:3, CCSD 1:4-1:5, Med-Surg 1:6
  • Uses SpaceLabs bedside monitoring, Baxter/Spectrum IV pumps, Kangaroo feeding pumps, Hill-Rom critical care beds, ventilators, Prismaflex CRRT machines, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps, Blanketrols, Arctic Sun, and Zoll monitoring
  • Meditech EHR used for clinical documentation
  • Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • No call requirements
  • Home unit is Critical Care with float priority to Med-Surg floors, Step-Down, or CVICU overflow

Requirements

  • Active AL or compact RN license required
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
  • AHA certifications required
  • 5 years of critical care/ICU experience required
  • Proficiency in IV starts, blood draws, NG tube placements, ECG rhythm interpretation, lab and ABG interpretation, critical care drips and titrations
  • Experience managing ventilators, arterial lines, chest tubes, and Central Venous lines including Large-Volume Vas Caths
  • Ability to assist physicians with bedside procedures and conscious sedation
  • Smartphone required for physician communication via TigerConnect app
  • Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Assist physicians with bedside procedures and conscious sedation while managing advanced critical care equipment
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary care teams
  • Preferred experience in a teaching hospital with resident physicians and high-acuity ICU settings managing CRRT, IABP, and arterial sheath pulls
  • Preferred prior experience in SICU, MICU, CVICU, Neuro ICU, or PCU/Med-surg
  • Must complete online learning modules including NIHSS, ACLS/BLS, Moderate Sedation/Analgesia, and iStat and glucometer certifications
  • Royal blue scrub pants required; neutral colored or facility logo tops allowed
  • Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility
  • Cannot have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the past 12 months
  • Cannot be employed elsewhere full-time
