Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position requiring 5 years of critical care experience and AHA certifications.

Details

  • Work in the Critical Care Services unit (2nd Floor) of a Level 3 trauma facility
  • Critical Care/Intensive Care specialty treating adult and geriatric patients
  • Patient ratios vary by unit: CCU 1:2-1:3, CVICU 1:2-1:3, CCSD 1:4-1:5, Med-Surg 1:6
  • Common diagnoses include respiratory failure, strokes, STEMI/NSTEMI, cardiogenic shock, septic shock, GI bleeds, and post-surgical care
  • Uses SpaceLabs bedside monitoring, Baxter/Spectrum IV pumps, Hill-Rom critical care beds, ventilators, Prismaflex CRRT machines, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps, Blanketrols, Arctic Sun, and Zoll monitoring
  • Utilizes Meditech EHR with clinical access for ICU patients
  • Night shift schedule from 7p-7a with every other weekend required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Home unit is CCU with floating required to CVICU, Critical Care Step-Down, and Med-Surg as needed

Requirements

  • Active RN license (AL or Compact) currently in hand
  • Minimum 5 years of experience required
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
  • Proficiency in IV starts, blood draws, NG tube placement, ECG rhythm interpretation, lab/ABG interpretation, critical care drips and titrations
  • Experience managing ventilators, arterial lines, chest tubes, and central venous lines including large-volume Vas Caths
  • Experience assisting with bedside procedures and conscious sedation required
  • Smartphone required for physician communication via TigerConnect app
  • Completion of online learning modules including NIHSS, ACLS/BLS, Moderate Sedation/Analgesia, iStat and glucometer certifications
  • Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Assist physicians with bedside procedures and conscious sedation in a high-acuity critical care environment
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary care teams
  • Prior experience in a teaching hospital with resident physicians preferred
  • Experience managing advanced skills such as CRRT, IABP, and arterial sheath pulls preferred
  • Prior experience in SICU, MICU, CVICU, Neuro ICU, or PCU/Med-Surg preferred
  • Royal blue scrub pants required; neutral colored solid or facility-logo tops permitted
  • Must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for this assignment
  • Cannot have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the past 12 months
  • Must not be employed elsewhere full-time during the assignment
