Description
American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications with prior EMU experience preferred.
Details
- Combined PCU and Medical-Surgical unit with float expectations between both units
- Emphasis on neurological patients with overflow patient assignments
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:30)
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-5 depending on patient acuity
- Patient population includes telemetry, neurological/psychiatric, pre/post neurosurgery, and seizure disorder cases
- Required to be trained on EMU for monitoring and interviewing epilepsy patients
- Epic EMR experience required
- Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
- Required to work 3 of 5 winter holidays
Requirements
- Active KY State or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in specialty required
- Minimum 1 year of EMU (Epilepsy Monitoring Unit) experience preferred; conditional consideration if EMU skillset is limited or unknown
- Epic charting system experience required
- Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills required
- Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias required
- At least 1 professional reference required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide nursing care to neurological and telemetry patients, including epilepsy monitoring and pre/post neurosurgical care
- Local candidates residing within 100 miles of the facility are not accepted
- Returning staff must have been separated from all affiliated facilities for at least 6 months to be eligible as a traveler
- Candidates with any licensure hits will not be accepted at this facility
- All requested time off must be disclosed at time of consideration; requests made after offer will not be approved
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
