Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring neuro and trauma care experience, ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications, working night shifts on a 13-week travel contract in Asheville, NC.

Details

  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) on the K7 floor of a large hospital in Asheville, NC
  • 44-bed unit serving neuro and trauma stepdown patient populations
  • Patient ratio is 4:1, with potential stretch to 5:1
  • Night shift schedule: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating to stepdown and med-surg units required
  • Cerner EMR in use
  • Equipment includes IV pumps, Skylift, PCA pumps, chest tubes, trachs, and patient lifts
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active NC or Compact RN license required
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of start)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in PCU or a related specialty
  • Neuro and trauma care experience required
  • Cerner EMR experience preferred
  • US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
  • One professional reference required

Additional Information

  • Procedures performed on unit include neuro and spinal checks, C-collar placement, TLSO braces, chest tube management, PCA pump management, IV infusions, lumbar drain, feeding tube placement, and blood transfusions
  • Unit staffing includes Charge Nurses, RNs, CNAs, and a HUC on both day and night shifts
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
  • No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
