Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit position requiring stepdown and telemetry experience.

Details

  • 40-bed cardiac surgery stepdown unit within a hospital setting
  • Primary patient population includes CV and vascular surgery patients (CABG, AVR, MVR, Bentall, TAVR), thoracic lung surgery, esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomies
  • Also receives overflow medical cardiology patients with heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block diagnoses
  • Patient ratio of 1:5 for RNs
  • Uses Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and various lifts
  • Cerner EMR system used
  • Day and night shift teams include a charge RN, staff RNs, PCTs, and HUC support
  • Floating required to any stepdown (1:5 ratio) or medical-surgical (1:6-7 ratio) unit, or the ER inpatient holding area (1:6)
  • No on-call requirements
  • Minimum of 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday day/night) required per 6-week schedule period
  • Flexibility to work holidays required

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) currently in hand
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Stepdown experience required
  • Telemetry experience required
  • Prior CV surgery and vascular surgery population experience within the past year preferred
  • CVICU experience preferred
  • US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
  • No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

  • Perform epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV glucommander protocols, and cardiac drip management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, and nitroglycerin)
  • Best suited for team players who are flexible and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Scrub attire must be all navy, white tops with navy bottoms, or all white
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be considered; no local candidates accepted
