Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license in New Mexico or a compact state license eligible for start
• 2 years of experience preferred; unit accepts 1st time travelers
• BLS and NRP required
• Ability to care for postpartum patients, newborns, and a mixed patient population
• Experience with Epic preferred
• Comfortable supporting patient ratios in the 3-4 range
• Willingness to float within related maternal-child health units as needed

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate postpartum nursing and newborn care to mothers and infants
• Perform assessments, monitor recovery, and support couplet care workflows
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards
• Educate families on newborn care, breastfeeding, discharge instructions, and self-care after delivery
• Support common postpartum procedures and interventions, including circumcision teaching, cord care, fundal checks, and incision care
• Monitor for complications such as hemorrhage, hypertension, jaundice, hypoglycemia, and feeding concerns
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to promote safe, positive patient outcomes
