Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring a WI or compact license, PALS/BLS certification, and prior PICU experience with cardiac exposure.

Details

  • Work in a 21-bed Pediatric ICU within a comprehensive pediatric medical and surgical center
  • Provide family-centered care to critically ill or injured children with medical and surgical conditions including acute head injuries, critical neurological disorders, pulmonary diseases, cardiac anomalies, organ transplantation, multi-system organ failure, and ECMO
  • Night shift schedule of 3x12 hours, 7:00pm-7:30am, Monday through Friday with every other weekend required
  • Alternative day/evening shift option of 36 hours/week, 0700-1930, with every other weekend required
  • Holiday rotation required
  • Floating required across units and locations as staffing needs dictate, with travelers floated first
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active WI RN license or compact license from permanent address state
  • BLS certification through American Heart Association only
  • PALS certification through American Heart Association
  • NRP certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the PICU specialty
  • Solid PICU experience required, along with some CV ICU, cardiac step down, or general cardiac experience
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred
  • Basic arrhythmia experience required
  • Must pass a telemetry exam with strict criteria (adult and pediatric rhythm interpretation) prior to starting, with up to three attempts allowed
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Level I Trauma Center experience preferred
  • Travel experience required
  • Skilled in respiratory care including ventilator management, ETT/NT suctioning, tracheostomy care, and ABG interpretation
  • Experience with IV therapy, central line care, PICC line management, and administration of blood products
  • Experience managing emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and pediatric dosage calculations
  • Cardiovascular skills including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and hemodynamic monitoring
  • Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound assessment/care

Additional Information

  • Join a multidisciplinary team delivering specialized critical care to pediatric patients and their families
  • Located within a nationally recognized, Magnet-designated children's hospital that includes a Level One Pediatric Trauma Center and Level IV NICU
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the position, as local candidates are not accepted
