Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Pediatric ICU role requiring WI or compact RN licensure and two years of recent acute care experience in the specialty.

Details

  • Work in a 21-bed PICU within a nationally recognized pediatric medical and surgical center
  • Care for critically ill or injured pediatric patients with medical and surgical conditions including acute head injuries, critical neurological disorders, pulmonary disease, cardiac anomalies, organ transplantation, multi-system organ failure, and ECMO
  • Shift options include Night (7:00pm-7:30am) and Day/Evening (0700-1930), 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend required with holiday rotation
  • Floating required across units and locations as staffing needs dictate, with travelers prioritized for reassignment
  • Epic charting system experience required

Requirements

  • Active WI RN license or compact license from permanent address state
  • BLS certification through American Heart Association required
  • PALS certification through American Heart Association required
  • NRP certification preferred
  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred
  • Minimum two years of acute care experience within the last three years in the PICU specialty required
  • Solid PICU experience required, along with some CVICU, cardiac step down, or general cardiac experience
  • Basic Arrhythmia experience required, with a telemetry test required prior to start
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Skilled in ventilator management, airway care, ABG interpretation, chest tube management, and suctioning
  • Experience with arterial line, central line, and PICC line management
  • Experience administering vasopressors, antiarrhythmics, and continuous sedation preferred
  • Experience with hemodynamic monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry monitoring
  • Experience with EVD, ICP monitoring, hypothermia protocol, and post-neurosurgery care preferred
  • Experience with congenital heart disease/repair, post cardiac catheterization, and post cardiac surgery care preferred

Additional Information

  • Join a multidisciplinary team providing family-centered critical care to pediatric patients and their families
  • Facility is a Magnet-designated, Level One Pediatric Trauma Center and home to a Level IV NICU
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
  • Telemetry exam required prior to start with strict passing criteria for both adult and pediatric rhythm identification
  • Up to three attempts allowed to pass the telemetry exam, with a cardiac interpretation review course required after a second failed attempt
  • Parking permit required through UW Transportation if parking onsite, with alternative transportation options available
