Description

American Traveler is seeking a Pediatric Stepdown RN with an active IL RN license and PICU experience for a unique children's inpatient unit caring for medically complex, technology-dependent patients.

Details

• Pediatric Stepdown unit within a children's hospital
• Single 39-bed inpatient unit encompassing all specialties, treating patients from 2 weeks to 18 years old
• 50-60% of patients have some form of technology dependence, including tracheostomies with chronic ventilators and G tubes
• Acute care unit for patients with chronic illness; no drips, surgical, or transitional patients
• Patient ratios of 1:3-4
• Day shift schedule with both 3x12 and 4x12 options accepted (7:00-19:30)
• Required to work every other weekend
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• Block scheduling accommodated
• No on-call requirements
• Meditech charting system used

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required in hand at time of submission (compact licenses not accepted)
• BLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• 1:4 ratio experience required
• Vent, tracheostomy, and G tube care experience required
• Meditech charting experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Flu vaccine required (medical and religious exemptions accepted)

Additional Information

• Provide direct care to medically complex pediatric patients, including ventilator and tracheostomy management and gastric tube care
• Facility is a children's hospital with 62 total staffed beds
• Scrubs may be any color as long as neat and clean; peds-themed scrubs encouraged
• Free parking available in shared lots on facility grounds
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Pending license candidates accepted
• RTO must be approved and included in the contract prior to start; no additions permitted after the contract begins
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Previous staff members of the facility or affiliated clinics are not eligible for consideration
