Job Requirements

• 2+ years of registered nursing experience required
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license preferred at time of submission
• BLS certification required
• PALS certification required
• Epic experience required
• Traditional AHA certifications required; RQI is not accepted
• Strong pediatric PACU or pediatric ICU experience preferred
• Experience with blood product administration, chest tube management, extubation support, dysrhythmia recognition, and pediatric pain management
• Ability to care for patients from birth through 18 years of age, with occasional care for older patients in specialized recovery settings
• References required
• Must be comfortable with floating as needed and meeting pre-start compliance deadlines

Responsibilities

• Provide preoperative and postoperative care to pediatric patients recovering from surgery or procedures
• Monitor patients in Phase I PACU and support safe recovery from anesthesia
• Assess and manage pain, airway status, vital signs, and neurological changes in pediatric patients
• Support recovery for a broad range of specialties, including cardiothoracic, general surgery, ENT, orthopedics, oncology, ophthalmology, urology, and more
• Assist with specialized interventions such as chest tube management, ventilated patient care, central line support, and transfusion monitoring
• Respond to pediatric recovery concerns including laryngospasm, bronchospasm, emergence delirium, and malignant hyperthermia protocols
• Collaborate with anesthesia, nursing, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, family-centered care
• Maintain accurate documentation and follow unit protocols for patient safety and recovery readiness
• Adapt to variable scheduling, potential call coverage, and occasional floating based on unit needs
