Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position requiring 2 years of Peds ICU experience and float coverage across all Pediatric units.

Details

• Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position within a children's hospital
• Floats within scope to all Pediatric units including CVPICU, NICU, and PICU
• Patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:3
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, 36 hours per week
• Required to work every other weekend with holiday rotation
• Uses Epic EMR
• Block scheduling may be requested but requires manager approval based on unit needs

Requirements

• Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
• BLS and PALS certification required (AHA only accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of Peds ICU experience required
• ECMO and CRRT experience preferred
• Skilled in pediatric dosage calculations, IV vasopressors, continuous sedation, and anti-seizure medications
• Skilled in ventilator care, BiPAP/CPAP management, acute airway care, and ABG interpretation
• Skilled in chest tube management, central/PICC line care, and ICP monitoring
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Skilled in infection control, PPE, and isolation precautions
• SSN and driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients across multiple specialty units
• May be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June through November, with peak activity in August and September)
• Candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are considered local, with non-local candidates prioritized
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• RTO must be submitted at time of consideration, with approval based on unit needs
• Facility may cancel up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
• First-time travelers may be accepted if they meet the required experience
