Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool RN requiring 2 years of Peds ICU experience and BLS/PALS certification for a role floating across CVPICU, NICU, and PICU units.

Details

  • Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position within a children's hospital
  • Floats within scope to all Pediatric units including CVPICU, NICU, and PICU
  • Day shift schedule of 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, 36 hours per week
  • Patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:3
  • Requires working every other weekend with holiday rotation
  • Block scheduling may be accommodated with manager approval based on unit needs

Requirements

  • Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
  • BLS and PALS certification required (AHA only accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of Pediatric ICU experience required
  • Experience with any EMR/charting system required
  • Epic experience preferred
  • Experience with ECMO and CRRT preferred
  • Skilled in medication administration including anti-seizure meds, continuous sedation, and IV vasopressors
  • Proficient in pediatric dosage calculations
  • Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator care, acute airway maintenance, and ABG interpretation
  • Experience managing chest tubes, central/implanted lines, and PICC lines
  • Experience with ICP monitoring
  • Skilled in interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
  • Knowledge of infection control and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Social Security number and driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients across multiple specialized units
  • May be required to complete online training modules prior to starting the assignment, averaging 4 hours
  • May be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June through November, with peak activity in August and September)
  • First-time travelers considered if they meet the required Peds ICU experience
  • Previous perm or PRN staff must be separated from the health system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • All requested time off must be submitted at the time of application for consideration
  • Local candidates accepted on a case-by-case basis
  • Radius rule of 60 miles applies, with non-local candidates prioritized
