Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric ICU RN with 2+ years of Peds ICU experience for a float pool position requiring SC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Pediatric Critical Care float pool position within a children's hospital
• Works in the PICU with float requirements to CVPICU and NICU units as needed
• Patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:3
• Day shift schedule: 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM, 36 hours/week
• Every other weekend required with holiday rotation
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
• BLS and PALS certification required (AHA only accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of Pediatric ICU experience required
• ECMO and CRRT experience preferred
• Skilled in medication administration including anti-seizure meds, continuous sedation, and IV vasopressors
• Proficient in pediatric dosage calculations
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management and care of ventilated patients
• Skilled in airway maintenance and ABG interpretation
• Experience managing chest tubes, central lines, and PICC lines
• ICP monitoring experience required
• Skilled in interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
• Knowledge of infection control and isolation precautions/PPE
• Social Security number and driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing services to pediatric patients across multiple ICU units as needed
• Float pool role supporting facility-wide pediatric ICU staffing needs
• Block scheduling may be accommodated pending manager approval based on unit needs
• Facility may cancel up to one shift every two weeks
• Candidates should be aware that during hurricane season (June-November, peaking August-September), all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
• First-time travelers with the required experience are accepted
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for one year before returning as a traveler
• All requested time off must be submitted at the time of consideration and is subject to approval based on unit needs
• Local candidates are accepted on a case-by-case basis
• Candidates must reside within a 60-mile radius to be considered local
